CIP RC/PT Girder Help

Specifications Check

CIP RC/PT Girder performs a stress check based on the combined stresses for the Initial and Final, and analysis cases. These stresses are calculated based on the combined moment and axial forces at each POI and the cross section properties of that location. Note that CIP RC/PT Girder uses non-transformed section properties at the Initial case (i.e., PT is not transformed), and transformed section (PT is transformed) at the Final cases. CIP RC/PT Girder calculates the allowable stresses based on the concrete strength (f'ci or f'c) input by the user and the allowable stress factors. The allowable stresses are checked for all applicable stress combinations.

Note that although for reinforced sections (sections without PT) the stress check is not applicable, CIP RC/PT Girder may report the stress check conditions, and they should be ignored. Stresses that exceed the allowable are flagged. In the case of LFD specifications, stresses that exceed the allowable by more than the overstress factor are flagged. Allowable stresses are based on AASHTO (LFD) Art. 9.15.2.1 and AASHTO LFD Art. 9.15.2.2 (a), (b) and (c); and LRFD Art. 5.9.4.1 and LRFD Art. 5.9.4.2.
